Dubrovnik, kings landing!

I was already talking about Croatia, so why don’t add something else? We really visited allIMG_20160825_194806.jpg the country and our last destination has been Dubrovnik, everyone knows the city from the TV series and yeah, no spoiler.

In this page, I am referring to the old town, the inner part of the city, while the new town, it’s completely different. If you wish to see all the game of thrones spots, I guess that you might be disappointed, the places are different, the landscape is different and you won’t recognize them immediately.

How to get there? The city is located 1 hour from the airport, where you can get a but to reach the town. We traveled from Hvar by ferry and the trip was quite relaxing. Once you are there, you would immediately notice that the city is lovely: a medieval town on a beautiful sea, you would be surrounded by cats, nature and summer. The country is hot, but the wind and the water would mitigate it.

426117693_37591.jpgDid I say cats? Yes! Dubrovnik is the city of the cat, I lost the count of how many cats I have seen in just 4 days there. We stayed only 4 days, but it was quite enough to see all the spots, to visit the city and enjoy the breeze on the beaches, as you can guess the town is small and it is built on so damn many stairs.

Do you want to save some money there? God. Good luck with it. Keep in mind that 7 kunas are 1 euro, and that changing cash is better than withdrawing. Everything is really, really expensive. We stayed in an apartment outside the old town, I guess that the price was acceptable only because to reach it we climbed every day something like 670 stairs, up and then down, and then up and then down. Really healthy, isn’t it? I am use to wear hell; it has been really challenging. Restaurants are not really affordable, but few of them are. I would suggest a place called “La locanda” in the harbor, so, so good.

What did we see? You will find a lot of fun activities, you can get a jet ski, ride a boat, rent a kayak, visit the nearby islands… the same as Hvar, actually much more, but you would pay double of the price. I can’t really suggest something, because I would just do everything.

I complain a lot about the prices, but the landscape is absolutely amazing, when I was there I was feeling as being in a movie.

During the night you will find a couple of pubs, few bars and a few nightclubs. One of them is actually claimed in the 50 best nightclubs in the world, and we were lucky enough to get a free entrance. How we did it? Be aware of your surroundings, as Pokémon go says. Free vouchers were distributed in town and with them you could have entered free, to celebrate the end of the summer. I was actually disappointed about the all ‘end-of-the-summer-celebration’ who the hell celebrate the end of the holidays? But I got it as an excuse for more parties. The place was cool, but after Sziget was just…plain. It wasn’t bad, it was nice and the music was ok, I guess that it really depends by the night, but well, it is a bit overvalued.

What I would do there? I would buy a bottle of vodka, go to the beach and finish it with my friends, watching the starts and dancing near a fire; I guess it is possible if you get a car there.

Enjoy your summer!
